So last weekend, Matt & I went to go register for wedding gifts (!!!!) While it is not an activity that I would recommend doing after a night out celebrating our engagement with friends, it was certainly an experience.
Matt was so excited because he got to use the scan gun at Pottery Barn and Belk (Home Depot didn't have a scan gun), but the novelty quickly wore off once we realized we had NO IDEA WHAT WE WERE DOING!
The guide at Belk said we needed Formal China, Everyday China, and Holiday China. Why do we need three types of china, 12 sets of each? We don't even have room in our house for that many dishes! How will we ever get a chance to USE all of those dishes?
Needless to say, it was overwhelming. But we ended up registering for a lot of stuff we needed. Kitchen stuff. Dishes. Bedding. And Matt, controller of the scan gun, made sure we registered for things related to cheese, and items with deer heads on it.
One of the great things we learned about registering though is that a lot of the places will give us a 10% - 20% discount on items that people don't get for us. Which meant that while we were at pottery barn, we were adding EVERYTHING that we liked. Our hopeful plan is that some of the furniture we registered for will be on sale by the time our wedding happens, and then we can get an addition discount on it! :)
Also, our website is coming along nicely. I have asked Matt to create one for us, so it's in his queue of projects. Until his is created, we're using a free one from theknot.com (ours is stewart-accipiter.ourwedding.com), so all that's left is Matt updating his sections of it!
Next on our list is deciding on a venue!
