About to open the door! |
And while I am only starting in my homeownership, I am already seeing the benefits and downsides.
Benefits:
I can hang stuff wherever I want, paint whatever I want, and do whatever I want. I own this shit!
I can do a fixer-upper project and reap the benefit. No more worrying that I'll have to take it down after my lease ends, or leave the value for the apartment agency.
My mortgage is only $100 more than my rent when I lived in Raleigh, yet I actually own this. Whenever I move, I will sell it and get money back. No more throwing away my money!
I have land. No one stomping above me, barking dogs below me, and loud music beside me. Just me, my house, and my plot of land.
Sure, there are the required upkeep of an older home (in my case, way older!) but I love it! Yesterday, I made Matt come in the backyard and help me pick up sticks and debris from the yard while my tiniest kitten roamed a backyard for the first time in her life (she took it as an opportunity to roll in the dirt, successfully becoming a giant ball of dust).
I am so excited about the opportunity to decorate and design how I please! I've already been ripping pages out of the Restoration Hardware Spring 2011 catalog and taping them to the walls where I want featured items to go (and hoping to find antique stores with items that fit my wallet much better!)
Many pictures to come, so get pumped!
I've got some great pictures to come of the new place, but I am so excited about this next step in my life!
